Staplercide! The lives and deaths of academic library staplers.

We have experienced 15 deaths in my library this semester. Three victims were decapitated. The bodies of two other victims were never found. Others were abused and left for dead. My library is facing a crisis. Staplercide—the murder of library staplers—is at an all-time high.

just tie down the staplers to the desk so people can't walk off with them? My university library does this. Just make sure the you use a strong and short cable to tie them down with. That, or keep them at the reference desk and don't allow people to walk away from the desk with them.

Tying the staplers down fixes the problem of walk offs but does not eliminate stapler abuse. Have people found any tricks to reduce the other part of the problem?
