It's a story with plenty of chapters. In the 19th century, Cleveland was called Hope, one of the last stops on the Underground Railroad before freedom in Canada.

The more things change...

Interesting parallel between 19th C African- Americans and 21st Century Americans who are gay -- they both need to reach Canada (well, with one or two exceptions) to get the rights and freedoms they deserve.
