Maps: Views from above.

Google Maps has satellite views but Microsoft Maps has bird's eye views. Excellent tool for giving directions to your library. You can drag the picture with the mouse and fly-over a city. Look up your house. If there is a bird's eye view you can even spin the picture and see your house from different angles.

Some examples:

Seattle Public Library

Powell's in Portland, Oregon

Strand bookstore in New York

Bird's Eye is really great...

and actually works in rural areas that Google Maps sometimes doesn't. This tool makes for a great "wow" item when teaching beginners how to use the Net. Being able to show them where their car was parked at the time the photo was taken and the fact that they can search all for this kind of information can get people really excited!

oh

I thought you were talking about frozen vegetables.

Manhattan Aircraft carrier

Anyone know what ship this is docked off of Manhattan? It has an SR-71 on the deck.

It's the USS Intrepid

But it's not there atm, it's being refitted and reopening in November.
