There was a terrific editorial in the Springfield (MA) Republican newspaper on Monday in strong support of public libraries. The editorial chides an Internet poster claiming that libraries are obsolete, and points to the recent Pew report about Americans' use of libraries.
Towards the end, they say: "The public library is a school, a travel agency, an entertainment center, an Internet cafe and a community center all under one roof. The library is as relevant today as it's ever been."
