What's With SearchEngineWatch
Am I missing something here or is SEW way behind the times. I was wondering what survey they were talking about and it turns out to be the OCLC Perceptions Report for College Students. Their piece says the report was just made available online. At ACRLog I report on this study back in May 2006 (http://acrlblog.org/2006/05/31/is-this-new-oclc-r eport-worth-it/) and it was available online then. Later research (see http://acrlblog.org/2007/05/14/formula-for-academi c-library-success/) suggests that while students do start with search engines - many then go to library databases. It all depends on faculty recommendations -and freshman get fewer of them.
