Writer Rues Library Changes


Anonymous Patron writes "Guardian Unlimited Books: The bestselling novelist Susan Hill yesterday accused senior managers of UK public libraries of abandoning their commitment to books and manoeuvring to turn library buildings into social centres.
"They have been actively trying for years to get rid of books and introduce almost anything else," she said."


We serve the patron not the book. I have no commitment to books. I have a commitment to serving my customer base. Though now I have a commitment to never buy a Susan Hill book.
