Librarians choose Mockingbird over Bible


Greg writes "The Guardian Unlimited reports the results of a World Book Day poll conducted by the Museum, Libraries and Archives Council, where UK librarians were asked ""Which book should every adult read before they die?" Number one on the list is Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, edging out The Bible and Tolkein's Lord of the Rings trilogy. A complete story and the full list can be found here."


...and I wouldn't tell anybody to just 'read it'. Its too complicated a work for that.

I was surprised when I saw this story that an American novel would top a UK list, not that I disagree with the choice.
