As a follow-up to earlier stories about the Weimar library fire, a New York Times article (reg. req.) reports on the slow-going restoration project by the German Center for Book Conservation: Experts at the Anna Amalia Library in Weimar, Germany, are racing to restore the thousands books damaged in a fire in September.

If nytimes.com wants you to register, then register if you want to view the article.

They used to have free archives but took them away after discovering too
many people were accessing them. If enough people starting using registration bypass methods
the
article access to non-subscribers could go away completely.
