National Library Card-Sign Up Month

search-engines-web.com sends these "two press releases from ALA and PLA about Library Card Sign-up Month - a time when the American Library Association and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all. Rochelle is adding this syndicated column--a twenty-things-you-can-do-with-a-library-card piece. Not sure it's reflective of what all libraries do, but interesting.

19. Don't want your child hiding in her room while she's on the Internet? Then let her go online at the library. Most have restrictions on what Web sites can be accessed, taking the worry out of it for you.

Of course, many libraries have no filters installed on computers and libraries that do probably filter sparingly. There is no better filter for a child than their parents' supervision.

Only half true

"There is no better filter for a child than their parents' supervision."This is only partially true...if your parents are "goofy" the child is better off at the library.Half of the parents out there are above average in "goofiness"
