FBI Investigating Sandy Berger for National Archives Theft

As a follow-up to yesterday's story, conservator and others wrote in about the FBI investigation of Clinton-administration official and senior Kerry campaign advisor Sandy Berger for removing classified archival material from the National Archives in Washington, D.C.. CNN has the lead story, although some conservative news sources are complaining that the story isn't being carried enough.

This is a scream

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Sandy Berger is a complete tool. He 'resigned' as an advisor to the Kerry campaign. He was an unpaid hanger on hoping to land some plum job come Kerry's possible election.

Now it comes out he was jamming post-its in his socks. This is just too good to be true. I didn't intentionally take the documents I shoved in my pants, I didn't intend to take the notes I put in my socks. I must have inadvertently picked up documents in my leather portfolio. This guy must have been doing calisthenics in the reading room. I would love to have seen that, I would have called people over to watch.

Of course it could just be part of the new dance around the truth they are learning, The Blue Dress Boogie. It is a great song. The old lyrics are:(sung to the tune of a different drummer)

I did not have sexual relations with that woman.
It depends on what the meaning of is is.
New lyrics to the dance around the truth are:
"I knew that taking his own notes out of the secure reading room was a "technical violation of Archive procedures, but it is not all clear to us this represents a violation of the law."
Sing it with me! : Technical, technical, technical violation, but we ain't clear, Oh, no we ain't clear if it is aginst the law, Oh, no ain't against the law. What is is, what is is, what is is. No sexual relationship is a technical violation.

Thanks for the laughs. Enjoy prison Sandy.

Hunh?

Sandy Berger was the National Security Advisor. Of all the people who should be the most properly indoctrinated into how classified material should be handled, he should be able to recite the rules blind-folded so to say. I agree with Jonah Goldberg in this case.

Blog explosion

I spent some time clicking from blog to blog over this Berger business. I won't even give you links, but the one about 50 things found in Berger's pants was a hoot. That led me to RatherBiased.com about how Dan Rather covered this (as a leak). So all the play on words (Bergerler, Hamberger, etc.) leaks, pants, etc., . .well, it will all play out in a few days, but if it were Condi instead of Sandy, she'd be doing time with Martha yesterday.

I only hear Rush if I'm in the car in the afternoon and this was hair cut day. Anyway, he has said for months that Clintons will do all they can do to sabotage whomever the Dems put forward, so Hillary can run in '08 (woman president maybe; an "old" woman, that's doubtful). So if there was a leaker, he suspects a loyal Clintonite.

I suppose there are Republicans who will vote for Kerry just to keep her out of the 08 race.
