Blake writes "Another Story connects libraries to test scores.
There is more to the high school library than its book collection: A good reference collection, on-line resources and a professional librarian looking to improve the library.
Books still form the foundation of any library and when compared to professional standards and other area high-school libraries, the Melrose High School library has fewer books, less money and a smaller staff. The situation is serious because recent studies from the State of Florida, Simmons College and the Colorado State Library show a direct correlation between library quality and standardized test scores. The library, it seems, does more than augment the classroom; it's an integral part of learning."
