New Zealand Gets Local Libraries Focus From Local Governments Minister

Sean Murgatroyd wrote at The Room of Infinite Diligence that the local governments minister has directed local councils to regard libraries as core services as well as a few other functional areas. Murgatroyd pointed out that this came from a postcard campaign launched by LIANZA.

I think you used more words here than I did in my post but thanks for spreading our great news - to contextualise for the international audience, Local Government in NZ is undergoing reform and while libraries are standard they haven't been defined as required services until now.

Given that the reform was of the "focus on core services alone" nature this change was great news.
