A photographer for The Independent who captured the massacre in the train station in Mumbai earlier in the week describes the police officer's failure to act while innocent people were being murdured by terrorists.
The photographer noted that he wished he had a gun and not a camera.

Saw that
I can understand where the photog was coming from. In combat reporting situations, rarely are folks sent in solo. Even in peacetime in peaceful settings, solo journalist assignments can get scary at times. As strange as it may sound, the fury of a mother at a school board meeting can be a scary spectacle that might even devolve into fisticuffs or worse.
We will have an analytical piece on some questions raised by the Mumbai incident that impact on LIS efforts in the Web 2.0 sphere. A rep from International Crisis Group was not happy with all the tweets out there and even referred to them as mostly useless. That analytical bit hasn't been recorded yet as we're still in wait-and-see mode in case the story develops further.
