It's Different
I think maybe there are intelligent conversations there (Amazon), but in a different way than we'd have at a book store. The real conversations are replaced but recommendations, and lists and comments and all the other stuff Amazon let's us do. I'd even say the Amazon algorithms are some kid of (very different) conversation.
Interpretation
My interpretation of the question - So if we were going to have an intelligent conversation with Amazon what would be said? - saw this as asking what response Amazon would have to bookstore closings and the change in the bookstore market.
Another interpretation is that the person asking this question was asking who you can discuss books with at a digital store. Maybe the person that asked the question will clarify which question they were asking.
