The library info-sphere is typically full of messages from the prominent about the importance of their first library (various nobel prize winners, Tess Gerritsen, Joyce Carol Oates et al) or impact studies on the importance of libraries on the plebian (OCLC, Dominican etc.).
Maybe it's time to pause for a moment and collect, StoryCorps-style, our own recollections of our first library experience, how they've changed, and what that means to us as individuals.
