Princeton NJ Library Director Leslie Burger is announcing a new service that will enable patrons to request books by phone or on-line, and have them delivered to their door by the USPS at no charge. The Central Jersey Library Cooperative provided funds for the grant, and the program will be tracked to measure its success over a period of two years.
Also bits & pieces about the library book sale and some top-selling author appearances in (Princeton) Town Topics.
resource website for “books by mail”
I’m thrilled to see CJRLC and Princeton jumping into the “Books by Mail” game. They are basing the program off of a pilot project that is coming to completion (and was just presented on at NJLA conference).
I think we’ve demonstrated that sending holds by mail is:
1) easy to set up
2) not prohibitively expensive (it’s actually a more efficient use of the collection)
3) LOVED by the customers, and can be used to build support and advocate for funding.
Check out the website: http://www.sjrlc.org/mail for complete info.
