5 Conversations [About Libraries] I Don't Want To Have Anymore
I don't want to talk about copyright anymore.
I don't want to talk about "21st Century Skills" anymore.
I don't want to talk about the "digital divide" anymore.
I don’t want to talk about eBooks replacing print books anymore.
I don’t want to talk about protecting students from the evils of social media anymore.

Then why did you bring it up?

I don't want to talk about

I don't want to talk about how desparately we need to update our web site anymore.

I hate to tell you this, but..

As long as there's poverty and ignorance in America, you're stuck with a discourse on the digital divide.

And as long as the technorati asshats who run library world insist that print is dead, we're going to have to keep pushing back.

So, there's some incentive. But you're not done yet. So put on your big librarian panties and deal.

but I WANT to talk about the app I just downloaded

..... oooohhhhhh, apps, wonderful apps. which app is best for scanning, tracking, drawing, logging, recording, reminding, uploading, searching, listening, playing,.......... yes, sarcasm. I don't care about your apps or even mine. install them, use them, but shut up about them. I feel like it's 1993 again and everyone is installing graphical menus to run their DOS programs.

Don't want to talk about it

I can think of several things I don't want to talk about but am compelled to discuss, and do something about. Top of the list: funding and status. Since when did libraries and their services qualify as" low hanging fruit?"
